a. post-Same Stitch

[It's been a few months since he was thrown back in Arkham after his disastrous mental breakdown in Ace Chemicals. At least eight people were dead because of his stupid bomb stunt on the GCPD rooftop and three more were dead when he finally flipped and drove his knife into them at Ace.

It was only with some heavy pleading from Bruce - or so he guessed - that Leland let him have trial basis back in the rec room. His previous privileges? Gone. 'Home' just didn't feel like home anymore.

He ignored when Zsasz lightly chuckled his way, ignored the greeting from Socko (and by extension, Arnold), and even opted not to bully Sane Lewis into giving up the TV. After all, he lost remote privilege, so what was the point?

John, instead, withdrew and opted to sulk in a chair, mostly away from the rest of his fellow patients. He just- he just wanted Leland and the orderlies see he could behave, see? He wasn't going to cause a fuss or a problem. Maybe they'd let him out of his room more often if they saw him behaving...]

b. pre-Same Stitch

[Before all things go to hell... it's John! What a good man.

Dressed in bright colors, purple and greens, he absolutely stands out in this random Gotham park. He's current sitting on a bench, armed with a (stolen) slushie and his phone, taking an absolutely absurd amount of selfies. And when he isn't taking selfies, he's taking pictures of random people and things around the park. It's a good day to be John.

He's probably taking a picture of you, now, without your permission. Smile!]


2. outside canon (thank god this one is less messy)

[Through the implied logics of DC and comic books, for some reason John's totally just wherever you are via some sort of dimensional rift or whatever the fuck, do I look like I know a comic book?
